On June 1, 1976, Intercounty Health Incorporated opened its doors to local residents for medical care and information. More specifically, to provide services to our neighbors without financial resources who needed access to quality care. In fact, 92% of the patients had an income below the poverty-level threshold.
Even after 50 years, Shenandoah Community Health continues to serve the migrant population, honoring the legacy created by our predecessors.
Today, SCH has a dedicated staff of 250 employees providing a myriad of services: primary care medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmaceutical, radiological, labs, ultrasounds, HIV awareness/education, social services, transportation, patient referrals and more. We currently provide services in 9 counties between WV and Virginia at 16 different locations. In the calendar year 2025 SCH serviced over 30,000 patients, 4,500 WIC clients, 150 Ryan White patients and filled 70,000 prescriptions.
Here's to another 50 years!

The positive feedback we received from guests, board members, community partners, and other staff is a direct reflection of everyone's commitment to SCH.
We are grateful for each of you.
