What do I do in case of medical emergency?

If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately or go directly to the nearest emergency department.
How do I make an appointment?

To make an appointment, call the office and the scheduler will be happy to help you. Click here for a list of our services and locations.
Can anyone be a patient at SVMS?

Yes! We provide care to anyone who wishes to be a patient.
Do you accept my insurance plan?

We accept many private insurance plans as well as Medicaid and Medicare. SCH staff can advise you if we participate in your plan, or you can call your insurance carrier directly.
Can you help me understand healthcare reform?

Yes. SCH has Enrollment Specialists who can help you understand the Affordable Care Act, the Health Insurance Marketplace, and Medicaid Expansion. Simply call 304.596.2224 or email
What if I cannot keep my appointment?

Please, if you cannot keep your appointment, call us as soon as possible. We appreciate 48 hours notice so that we may schedule another patient for that appointment time.
Do you offer same-day visits?

Many of our offices offer same day visits. If you feel you need to be seen right away please call the office directly and they will make an appropriate plan with you. If you are having a life-threatening emergency, do NOT call the office; rather, call 911.
How do I get a refill on my prescription?

Call your provider's office and choose the correct option. Please allow 2 business days for prescription refills.
Do I have to pay at the time of service?

Payment is expected at the time of service; however we offer various programs that you may benefit from. Many patients are eligible for our sliding fee program. To see if you are, click here. We do ask you to return the completed forms and documents before you are seen by your provider.
Are my records kept confidential?

Yes. We take your confidentiality very seriously. We follow all federal and state guidelines to comply with HIPAA regulations. For more about this, please click here.
Do SCH providers have hospital privileges?

Many of our providers have privileges at WVU-East/Berkeley Medical Center. To find out if a particular provider has privileges, please call the location in which they work or click here.
